Butler County Pheasants Forever goes to Argentina
|
Sadly, the Argentine government has functionally banned goose hunting, and this trip will no longer be
available. Thanks to the generous donations by Juan Pasquini, we have been able to auction three
Argentine goose, pigeon, dove and duck hunts at our fundraisers.
Estancia San Carlos was the base of operations while in
Bahia Blanca, Argentina. San Carlos is an 85 year old
ranch, and can sleep up to 8 hunters. A cook and
housekeeper are part of the staff. Meals are near
gourmet quality, and an open bar is part of the package.
Our host and guide, Juan Pasquini. Juan has guided professionally for
9 years and offers bird hunting, fishing, horseback riding and trekking.
Juan has donated three hunts to Butler County
Pheasants Forever to help with our conservation efforts,
and we would like to express our sincere appreciation to
him for those donations.
The living room at San Carlos. The solid wood paneling
is mahogany, and the woodworking is beautifully done.
The dining room at San Carlos. All meals were very well prepared, and
special requests can be accommodated. Lunches and dinners
included some very nice Argentine wines.
Butler County PF committee member Mike Schnipper,
hunt winner Brian Campbell and Butler County PF
committee member Ted Clear show off their first
morning's take of Magellan and ashy head geese and
yellow billed pintail ducks.

two hours of hunting on their final day in Bahia Blanca, Argentina.
Magellan geese headed for the decoys. The
geese come in low and decoy very readily.
No decoy shy birds here. This photo was taken with a video camera
about 25 feet behind me, without magnification. If you look closely, the
bird at the top of the yellow sunrise has already been hit.
Sadly, the Argentine government has all but outlawed goose hunting, and Juan is no longer guiding. The hunt we offered was for bid is
for two persons, for 3 days at Estancia San Carlos, in Bahia Blanca, Patagonia, Argentina. The winning bidder was able to field hunt ashy
head and Magellan geese in the morning, and pigeons in the afternoon. The hunts took place on a mutually agreeable date between
June 1 and August 15, between the buyer and Juan Pasquini. The package included ground transportation while in Bahia Blanca, guide
services, lodging, meals and open bar. It did not include airfare, shells, tips or any other expenses. Additional days and space for
additional hunters could be purchased at additional expense, to a maximum of 6 persons and a maximum of 5 days.
